Does anyone know much about the Altima SE-R? From what I can tell it's just an Altima with an Intake, and exhaust, along with tuned suspension, nicer interior, and appearance package. And I like it.

Kinja'd!!!

Until a few days ago I didn't even know they existed, but a few have popped up on CL recently and they seem to be a real performance bargain.

And the tuned VQ35DE sounds great.

A guy at my work has one. The first time I saw it I figured it was just all bolt-on crud he had done. Then I discovered it was all bolt-on crud Nissan did for him at an exorbitant markup.

Still though, it's a neat idea that they hopped up their larger sedan a bit. It does look a lot sharper than a typical Altima without being to gaudy imo.

Don't you know about internet rule #1? You aren't allowed to like things other people don't like.

A former coworker of mine had one and slightly riced it out. He was one of those guys who makes their car out to be a little more special than it really is. Another former coworker with a similar affliction had a MkIV VW R32. It's like, ok guys, yes your cars are nice enough, you don't need to try and convince me they're race cars , because they're not.

MK4 R32s are the best of the R32s though. A shop here in CO does some amazing things with them.

Nothing against the R32—I mean, they don't really do anything for me as I've never really enjoyed VWs—but this guy was a dumbass. He'd go around talking about how his totally-stock (except for some O.Z. rims) R32 was a rally car . Rally car this, rally car that.

I like them too. I have always wondered how quick they are.

I did some research on these when they were new. They charged something crazy (like $6500 more) just for the headlights, tail lights, suspension, wheels, and intake. I read online that the regular V6 Altima picked up something like 20 more hp with an aftermarket intake than when compared to the intake/tune on the SE-R.

I never understood how they sold any of them.

I had one for a couple years. It was a lot of fun, and moved well for its size. Super comfortable. Gorgeous sound. However, my VQ decided to eat the timing chain guide (which I replaced), and started having other issues at 140k. The engine hadn't failed, but it was becoming a bit of a pain to take care of.
